THE ARTS SOCIETY (Formerly NADFAS),
IS WORKING WITH THE CHANDOS
TO CREATE NEW SOCIETIES IN THE BALEARIC ISLES.
For over forty years, Anthony Russell has regularly visited the Island of Mallorca - where his mother still lives - and has always loved it.
So with the generous support of Blevins Franks Financial Planners, he was delighted to give the 'taster' lectures in both Mallorca and Menorca in October 2017, to help with setting up societies there.
"My gratitude to you is immense!
I am so pleased you never lost faith
that the organisation would get off the ground.
Everything happens for a reason . . . I really enjoy your company and I am very glad to know that you have 10 accredited lectures under your belt,
which will make you a regular speaker, I am sure."
Anthony Russell has lectured for the Arts Society across Europe and as far as Australia and New Zealand (2014 & 2016 & returning in 2019).
The Art Society fulfils a similar role to the British Museum, in spreading cultural understanding around the world and of course this endeavour is at the heart of the work of the Chandos Foundation.
Various possible leads are currently being pursued which will include appointing a chairman, who would set up a steering committee to find a suitable location and build up the membership.
As a general rule, for the society to be sustainable, there needs to be an English speaking membership of 150, paying a subscription of around £50 per year for 10 lectures, which most agree is excellent value.
Not only are the Balearic Isles considered to be ready for such cultural advances but in a fine setting and with vibrant social mix, such a society always attracts the interest of business, with great opportunities for networking and cooperation.
