Whether as a guest of The Chandos Foundation or visiting independently, welcome to the lodge.
With consideration to the environment, the 'zero net carbon' house meets the highest standards of insulation, with underfloor heating, an air source heat pump and solar panels, while planning to add a wind turbine. All energy consumed is renewable and all electricity controlled by a Tesla ‘PowerWall’ battery. The half-acre around the house is entirely organic, most of it given over to wildflowers to encourage insects and any natural guests choosing to drop by.
Also, we have sought always to ensure the best possible relationship with our neighbours and the local community. With this in mind, the Lodge’s Housekeeper and Groundsman share in the success of what we do.
We are surrounded on 3 sides by the remarkable fen reserves and so there is a lot of wildlife about, from birds of prey and deer to frogs and many insects. We hope our guests are not inconvenienced by any of the above.
There are 3 double bedrooms and a 4th with double sofa bed (all with showers, 2 with baths), seating for 8 and an upper and lower terrace.
